Welcome UA Local 250 members. A meeting has taken place
where ARCA/MCA has submitted their proposal, dated July 28th
and 29th. District Council 16/UA Local 250 submitted a
counter-proposal on August 24th and 25th.
PROPOSAL - July 28th and 29th, 2011
- Three-year Agreement
- No economic change in
the Los Angeles/Orange County region during the first
year of the Agreement, offers a 1% increase the second
year of the Agreement in all regions, and a 1% increase
the third year of the Agreement in all regions. ($0.55)
- Requires that no less
than 70% of the entire economic package be allocated to
the paycheck
- Improve the
marketability and quality of the workforce by having all
journeyman UA Star Qualified
- Offers a dispute
resolution procedure to ensure our industry customers
have the confidence of doing business with a union
contractor. This procedure will assist the Union in
their efforts to organize efforts. (Remove strike
clause)
COUNTER-PROPOSAL - August 24th and 25th, 2011
1. The employer will
fax to the local union the result of pre-employment
interviews for 3rd through 5th year Apprentices only on
an industry approved form.
2. Section 9.09 “Service Work”
Careless and incorrect reports on work done shall be the
Service Employee’s responsibility to correct without
additional expense to the Employer, except when
electronic device/data entry has required paper forms to
be used after electronic device hardware or software
failure. When the Employer has the Service Employee use
an electronic devise for time cards, work orders, or
work authorizations, all time for electronic forms/data
entry will be compensated by the Employer. All training
for proper implementation of such devices shall be at
the Employer’s expense. All maintenance, updates,
upgrades, service, backup, and repair of such devices
shall be at the Employer’s expense. Since the Employee
has no control over electronic forms once they are sent,
any reports that are incorrect or contain bad data shall
be corrected at the Employer’s expense. If the
electronic form’s device has a hardware or software
failure after the electronic form is complete and the
Employee is required to make out new electronic form
and/or has to make out paper forms as backup, it shall
be done at the Employer’s expense.
3. 12.04 “Overtime Service Calls”
A. Monday through Saturday, except holidays, three (3)
hours pay at time and one half, or time and one half for
hours worked, whichever is greater.
E. If an employee is required to be on call during
periods outside the regular work day or work week, he
shall receive the sum of $15.00 per each work day Monday
through Thursday and the sum of $20.00 for each Friday,
Saturday, Sunday, and holiday. This on-call fee shall be
considered as compensated expense for maintaining
required facilities for this purpose.
4. 12.06 Add Day After Thanksgiving Day.
5. 14.02 “Termination Slip”
At the time of termination, the Employer shall transmit
to the appropriate Local Union a copy of the termination
slip.
6. 26.01 Term of Agreement: One Year.
7. All Regions: 5% increase to package (includes ARCA
CED) all classifications to be allocated by Union.
Percentage of increase to wages applied to workers paid
over scale. Adjust San Diego ARCA Journeyman hourly wage
adjusted to $34.00 per hour and apprentice hourly wages
adjusted accordingly.
8. All outlying areas participate in Local 250 Cold Side
Health and Welfare Plan.
9. LA 3.02 (K): Core 1 and Core 2 classes shall be
offered to Journeymen who desire to become certified.
Recently graduated Apprentices shall not be required to
take Core 1 and Core 2 classes as a requirement of
certification but must complete such classes within 5
years in order to maintain certification.
10. LA 3.06 (B) Certification Pay – Increase
certification pay for Journeymen 6 years – 15 years.
11. LA [new]
Beginning with Apprentices indentured in 2011 or after,
add defined benefit pension contributions beginning in
the 2nd year and continuing through the 5th year.
12. LA [new]
Add Retiree Christmas Fund patterned after Hot Side
Fund. $0.25.
